Do you remember the movie ‘Honey, I Shrunk The Kids’? Take your place as the kids in that movie with a new game from Obsidian Entertainment & Xbox Game Studios, Grounded.

Released for early access for Xbox One Game Preview with Game Pass and Steam Early Access on July 28th, Grounded will see the official release in 2021. Grounded is a new survival game that can be played in first or third person, where the player is shrunk to the size of an ant and works to survive in a backyard filled with dangers.

Like any typical backyard, you will encounter spiders, bees, dust mites, and ladybugs. Yes, if you have arachnophobia, there is actually a setting where you can change how the spiders are in the game. Each of the different insects affect the player in a different way, whether it be for food, or being hunted. As you progress through the game, new areas of the backyard will slowly increase difficulty of the enemies as well.

In order to survive, as you play the game you collect resources to craft multiple weapons like axes, spears, and bows and arrows. Like any survival game, you need to manage your stamina as well. Players will be able to cut down grass to collect dew drops to drink water, and be able to eat food as well or health will be lost.

Believe it or not, only 13 people from Obsidian Entertainment worked on the production of Grounded. The team actually watched the movies ‘A Bug’s Life’ and ‘Honey, I Shrunk The Kids’ for inspiration while developing the game.
