Microsoft Officially Welcomes the Bethesda Team!

    Article By: XGN Jessi 7XS

As of March 9th, 2021 it became official; Microsoft has now officially acquired ZeniMax Media, parent company to Bethesda Softworks. With this acquisition, originally announced in September 2020, Microsoft now owns the eight development studios under ZeniMax; Bethesda Game Studios, id Software, ZeniMax Online Studios, Arkane, MachineGames, Tango Gameworks, Alpha Dog, and Roundhouse Studios.

Microsoft's first step is bringing the Bethesda experience to Xbox consoles, PC, and Xbox Game Pass by bringing Bethesda titles over to Xbox and even producing Xbox Exclusive titles in the coming future.

On March 12th, we welcomed 20 Bethesda titles from their iconic franchises to Xbox Game Pass. Out of these titles, 16 of them will be available through PC, console, and even mobile through cloud gaming for Game Pass Ultimate members. Gamers can now enjoy the various titles that they have come to love over the years, and get ready to welcome even more in the future.

    Available with Xbox Game Pass

    - Dishonored Definitive Edition
    - Dishonored 2
    - DOOM [1993]
    - DOOM II
    - DOOM 3
    - DOOM 64
    - DOOM Eternal
    - The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
    - The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
    - The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition
    - The Elder Scrolls Online
    - The Evil Within
    - Fallout 4
    - Fallout 76
    - Fallout: New Vegas
    - Prey
    - RAGE 2
    - Wolfenstein: The New Order
    - Wolfenstein: The Old Blood
    - Wolfenstein: Youngblood

A handful of these Bethesda titles have also received an FPS boost for the Xbox Series S and Series X consoles. This nearly doubles the current frame rates for these titles, seeing an increase from 30 FPS to 60 FPS! This is a feature that can be enabled by the player by using the backward compatibility on the new generation console with select Xbox One games. Keep in mind however, in order to support FPS Boost, some games may run at a lower resolution in order to support the increased frame rates. You will see this in titles such as Fallout 4 and Fallout 76. Any titles receiving the update will show a clear indicator if the title is running the FPS Boost.

Some titles benefiting from FPS Boost include; Far Cry 4, New Super Lucky's Tale, Sniper Elite 4, EA Sports UFC 4, and Watch Dogs 2.
