The gaming community as a whole has arguably suffered one of the worst years in history. We witnessed games in production be delayed for extended periods; in the worst cases, the development terminated as a whole. Our most cherished events, conventions, and tournaments were postponed or unfortunately canceled. All producing a year plagued with let down and a lack of new content in a time when gamers needed it most. After suffering such an abysmal year across all boards, too much excitement E3 has announced it is back for the 2021 cycle! The prominent and most respected E3 expo, too found itself impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, canceling in 2020 for the first time since the original expo held in 1995. Sending shockwaves across the gaming society as a whole, this would all but mark a wasted year in gaming innovation, development, and production. It is only fair that this much-awaited announcement should mark the start of a very prosperous year for the gaming community.
Currently, information and specific details surrounding the E3 expo are not abundant. The current information available to us is as follows! For the first time, E3 will be coming to us in complete virtual form. The expo is taking a very innovative approach to circumvent the ongoing pandemic, dubbing this "a reimagined and hyper-engaged digital experience, paving the way for so much more in 2022 and beyond". This newly imagined event will take place from 06/07/21 to 06/15/21, with the first four days virtually open to the media, influencers, and streamers and the final four days open to the general public. In any regular year, these are the hottest tickets on the market, selling out within minutes. To much delight, we are all welcomed this year, and according to E3, it will be "completely free for all attendees". Regarding what is going to be showcased at this year's E3 event, some of the biggest names in the industry have already committed. As it stands currently, "Nintendo, Xbox, Capcom, Konami, Ubisoft, Take-Two Interactive, Warner Bros. Games, Koch Media" are set to take the stage. While the specifics of what is to be showed cased remain unknown, one can expect Nintendo's 2021 planed Switch 2 to be the center of attention. We can also only hope for more information regarding Halo Infinite to be forthcoming at E3 this year. On a concluding remark, one thing is for certain, this year's E3 will be much different than ever before, but at least we as gamers will have one of our most beloved events back!
